Is there an electric replacement
for gas ducted heating?
Yes. A ducted reverse cycle system reuses the roof space and, where they are sound, the outlets of your old gas heater, and adds whole-home cooling.
Where there is no roof space or the house is double storey, a multi-head split does the same job room by room.
Because the heater being removed is what makes your home eligible, replacing gas ducted heating is the upgrade that attracts the largest Victorian Energy Upgrades discount. We apply it on your quote.
Most replacements fall within the ducted price range, less any discount you are eligible for.

What happens on the day
- The gas ducted heater is decommissioned, removed and disposed of
- Existing ducts are inspected, kept where sound and replaced where they fail
- A dedicated electrical circuit is added, with switchboard work if needed
- The new indoor unit goes in the roof space and the outdoor unit in a position agreed with you
- Gas meter abolishment, if you are leaving gas entirely, is arranged with your retailer
What we check at your home
- Age and condition of the existing gas ducted heater
- Whether existing ducts can carry cooled air
- Roof space access for the new indoor unit
- Switchboard capacity for a dedicated circuit
- Rooms the old system served and the ones it missed
- Outdoor unit position
- Eligibility for the Victorian Energy Upgrades discount
Running costs
and how to lower them
A correctly sized inverter system adjusts its speed instead of switching on and off, which keeps running costs down. The rest comes down to how it is used.
- Cool to 24 to 26 degrees and heat to 18 to 21 degrees; each degree further adds roughly 10 percent
- Use zones or close doors so you only condition the rooms you use
- Close curtains and blinds on hot afternoons
- Keep filters clean and service once a year
- Improve ceiling insulation where you can
At the assessment we estimate running costs for your home so you can compare options properly.
How we work
We listen first
Which rooms are uncomfortable, how the house is used, what is installed now and when you need a decision.
We measure your home
Room sizes, insulation, roof space, existing ductwork, switchboard capacity and the best outdoor unit position.
We explain your options
Usually two or three, with what each costs to run and which one we would choose for your home.
You get a clear, written quote
Equipment, inclusions, exclusions, any discount and your final price. No pressure to decide on the day.
Installed carefully, cleaned up after
You know who is coming and when. Handover ends with the controller in your hand and the paperwork in your inbox.
Frequently asked questions
about gas ducted heating replacement
Yes. Ducted reverse cycle or a multi-head split replaces a gas ducted heater and adds cooling. Which suits your home depends on roof space, ductwork, the rooms you use and your switchboard.
Yes, and more evenly, because zones can be balanced room by room. Modern systems are rated for Melbourne winters and keep heating efficiently on frosty mornings.
Replacing a ducted gas heater with an efficient reverse cycle system can attract up to $9,000 off under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program.
The amount depends on your existing system, the new system and current certificate prices, and not every home is eligible.
No. You can keep gas for cooking or hot water. If you want to leave gas entirely, we explain what to expect with your retailer.

Brands we install
We install trusted household names and recommend the model that suits your home, not the one with the biggest margin.
Installation, servicing
and repairs
The team that installs your system services it. The first service is included, and after that we send a reminder each year so small faults are found before the first heatwave, not during it.
- Filter and coil clean
- Refrigerant pressures and electrical checks
- Drain flush and airflow check, recorded in your file
